HAND SKILLS & MODEL MAKING

This section includes series of hand drawings, sketches, as well as the model making and furniture design projects completed before. The media used here vary depending on the nature of the project and the scheme applied. Each picture carries their own individual concept and finishes.

This picture above shows the visualization of classical baroque design. As baroque carries the notion of heavy classic patterns, crafted walls, painted ceiling design and engraved theme, this has created another challenge of how marker and pencil colour could be used compatibly to create lively and real picture. Media used : COPIC Markers, Faber Castle Pencil Colour.

INTERIOR HAND RENDERING -- BAROQUE CLASSICAL BEDROOM.

This picture above shows the visualization of jewelleries design. This implements many style carried from each jewellery. There are ethnic, classical, contemporary, fancy and glamorous style portrayed here. The challenge is how to create the reflection of lights, shadows, shaping jewel colours and the shadows. Media used : COPIC Markers, Faber Castle Pencil Colour.

JEWELLERIES HAND RENDERING -- NECKLACE, RING, EARRING, BRACELET.

Above shows the rendered furniture layout plan, coloured with the theme of diamonds and tropical theme. This is seen by different gradient palettes of brown and grey, contoured with some velvet colours. HDB is a common flat built in Singapore, and therefore this project was carried in one of the unit. Media used : COPIC Markers, Faber Castle Pencil Colour.

FURNITURE LAYOUT PLAN RENDERING -- TROPICAL HDB FLAT.

PENCIL RENDERING -- LANDSCAPE GARDENS

This is about the details on shading power, background, foregrounds and midgrounds. As the pencil only casts B&W colours on the paper, different tension on how the pencil are dragged to form the gradation are emphasized. Composition is also the main concern here, where the comparison of trees, ground, house and the backyard trees must be logical. Media used : Faber Castle Pencil HB, 2B, 4B & Charcoal.

PENCIL RENDERING -- PINE RESIDENCE EXHIBITION BOOTH.

Above shows the corner exhibition coloured with the pencil and charcoal for some enhancement. This exhibition was about the apartment showcase to show the units, models, showflat and the price of buying. Several human figures were attached to create the scaled composition of the booth and the space user. Media used : Faber Castle Pencil HB, 2B, 4B & Charcoal.

FURNITURE DESIGN -- THE "ARCHANUS" CHAIR AND TABLE SET.

A furniture project. The requirement was to create a set of chair and side table using only 1m x 2,5 m 12mm-MDF sheet. The sheet came in 2 pieces to make this set and polish them 'raw' without any paint. Media used : MDF sheets (12mm thick), workshop machines and utensils.

FURNITURE DESIGN -- TELE CHAIR.

This is a 1 : 5 scale furniture prototype as the first starting point of furniture workshop skills. This is made manually and purely by hands, coated and polished in a form of telephone. The colours chosen were red and black as they depict the sense of bravery, encouragement and full pride. Media used : Pink densed foam, file, nylon fabric, cotton, red and black foam spray and emulsion paint.

A 1 : 1 jewellery model making. This is just a finished prototype of a proposed conceptual design. The unique combination is how the paper were polished and combined with pearls to make one set of necklace and bracelet. The colour scheme chosen are deep navy blue, green and pearl white. Media used : calendar paper (triangularly cut), nail polish, glitter, pearls, string.

JEWELLERY PROTOTYPE -- THE SACRED LEMURIA.

3D FUNDAMENTALS -- PLANAR CONSTRUCTION

The picture above indicates the basic exploration of using one single art card; cut and made into rectangular forms, and curled, intersected, joined into each other. There are only 3 cut outs here, but they must somehow carry dynamic elements to form three-dimensional volume. Of course, each of them has their own meaning and inspiration. Media used : art card 200 gr.
